Editorial Policy

How we research and write

Retirement decisions around health, money, benefits, and legal paperwork carry real consequences, so we hold this content to a higher bar than a typical blog post.

Sourcing

Articles that cite deadlines, dollar amounts, or program rules link directly to the primary government source — Medicare.gov, SSA.gov, VA.gov, Benefits.gov, or the relevant state agency — under an "Official resources" line. We do not rely on secondhand summaries of official rules when the original source is public.

Contributors

Each article carries a named byline. Contributors are assigned by topic so the same voice covers related subject matter consistently — see each contributor's background on their author page:

Contributor bylines reflect a consistent editorial voice and topic focus rather than a claim of professional licensure. No article on this site substitutes for advice from a licensed doctor, attorney, or financial professional.

Keeping content current

Articles display a "Last reviewed" or "Updated" date. Time-sensitive information — filing deadlines, enrollment windows, benefit amounts — is checked against the source agency and updated when rules change. If you find something out of date, let us know.

Corrections

If an article contains an error, we correct it and update the "Updated" date. We don't silently rewrite history — corrections are treated as normal maintenance, not something to hide.
